Diary of a Skag

This is an epic letter sent to me from Houston, Texas by Patrick Phipps. This is what he told me:

"I have this habit of walking while looking at the ground, so I find a lot of notes and grocery lists, etc. When I was in college though, I found a serialized letter over the course of three days. I was walking to class past a vacant lot and I saw some looseleaf paper with dense writing on it. The first day I found three pages (numbered even, to help me judge the order) of diaristic scrawl about some guy and "scooping" with him. There was also a mention of three or four clubs that did not exist in Austin. I wondered if someone had been sent this and threw it away or what the circumstances were. Over the next few days I'd find more pages strewn about by the wind. In all I think I have eight or nine pages. I still have them despite four or five moves and vacating my parents house. I can't trash them."

The letter is so long, I dedicated a whole page to it. It's hard to believe there are 3 missing pages! You can read the letter in its entirety here. You'd better go to the bathroom first. I'll wait.

Patrick publishes a very funny, FREE zine called "Trick Hips". You can get it by e-mailing him at trickhips@rocketmail.com

Your Favorite Leisbian

This is yet another faux diary entry, meant as a cruel insult. These kids today!

Dear Diary,
Today was horrible. I just found out my best friend Nicole was Leisbian.
Sorry to tell you Jill,
Love your favorite

Graphomania

Graphomania is a mental disorder which causes the sufferer to compulsively scribble. The results, though horrifying, can also be very beautiful-- surfaces densely covered with writing or script- like patterns. Here is a sample that my friend Steven found on the street.

Abuse

I found this torn remnant on the street. Even though it's a very small shard, it's clearly a ripped piece of a social worker's or child welfare agent's form. My only connection with the children on this form is this tiny piece of paper, but I find myself worrying about them. I hope they've been placed in a safe home.
